What is the Goal for ForwardingFaith?
The Virginia Synod Council voted in 2015 to create the ForwardingFaith Campaign in order to raise $2.5 million. Our goal is to establish a $2 million permanent endowment, to be designated for youth ministry and faith formation. Additionally $500,000 will support the ELCA’s Always Being Made New campaign designation for youth and young adult ministry.
Who will be asked to participate, and how?
ForwardingFaith will seek gifts from members and friends of the Virginia Synod. Gifts may be made in the form of cash, checks, and by credit card or electronic funds transfer via the Virginia Synod’s website. Gifts may also take the form of assets readily converted to cash and planned gifts (such as bequests, life insurance policies, charitable gift annuities and irrevocable trusts). Gift pledges may be made over a three-to-five year period, on a schedule chosen by the donor.
Will I have the opportunity to designate my gift?
Yes! You may choose to designate your gift to support either the Virginia Synod’s Youth and Faith Formation Endowment, or the ELCA’s Always Begin Made New campaign designated for youth and young adult ministry. You may also make an undesignated gift, which will support both.
How is the ForwardingFaith campaign being funded?
Campaign expenses are being covered by resources outside the scope of this campaign, so that 100% of your gift to ForwardingFaith will directly ensure the future of youth ministry and faith formation in the Virginia Synod and throughout the country.
What will it take to reach this goal?
In order to reach the goal of $2.5 million, the following gifts will be invited from individuals, families, groups and foundations, and through individual congregational appeals. These totals include an estimated $1 million in planned gifts.
